Why it helps in big fights
During boss fights, raids, and large mob encounters, you are tracking several threats at once. Name Pain's health-based coloring turns every nameplate into a quick status readout, so you can decide where to focus your damage without cycling through targets or watching a single boss bar.
Tactics to apply
- Scan the nameplates above a group of mobs to find the weakest one. Finishing off low-health mobs first reduces incoming damage faster than spreading hits evenly.
- In raids, use the coloring to spot which raider or pillager is nearly down, and redirect your attacks there to thin the wave.
- Against a boss with adds, keep an eye on the adds' nameplates so you notice when one is about to die and can reposition.
- For summoned pets or allies fighting alongside you, the coloring warns you when a
companion is in trouble so you can pull it back or heal it.
Keeping the screen readable
If the nameplates feel
cluttered during a chaotic fight, revisit the mod's configuration and dial back the display so only the information you care about shows. A cleaner screen makes the color changes easier to spot in the middle of combat.
Practice
Try these habits in a controlled fight, like a mob farm or a single raid, before relying on them in a serious boss attempt. The goal is to make reading nameplate color an automatic part of how you pick targets.
