How do I start compressing things?
Craft or find a Portable Subspace Compressor to begin shrinking contraptions on the go, or build a Static Subspace Compressor as a permanent workstation. You'll need a Compression Cannon or Creative Shrinkray to fire compression beams at your target structure.
What's the difference between the Portable and Static Subspace Compressor?
The Portable Subspace Compressor is a compact block you can place anywhere for quick shrinking tasks, while the Static Subspace Compressor is a larger fixed station designed for processing multiple structures. Both perform the same compression function, so choose based on your setup needs.
Can I compress a moving contraption or does it have to be stopped?
You can compress working contraptions with active bearings and Redstone systems—the mod preserves their function at the smaller scale. Stop the contraption before compression if you want to avoid unexpected behavior during the shrinking process.
How do I pick up a compressed structure and carry it?
After compression completes, use an Empty Box to collect the shrunken sublevel, which then becomes a Pocketed Sublevel item you can store in your inventory and transport anywhere, including across dimensions.
Can I compress things across different dimensions or do they have to be in the same world?
You compress structures in the dimension where they exist, but once packed into a Pocketed Sublevel, you can carry that item to any dimension and deploy it there.
What happens to Redstone lines and automated farms when I compress them?
Redstone contraptions, farms, and other automated systems continue to work after compression because the mod maintains accurate block collisions and functionality at all sublevel scales.
How do I get materials back from a compressed structure?
Use the Subspace Recycler block to process a compressed sublevel and reclaim its materials, effectively decompressing and breaking down the structure for resource recovery.
Can I display my miniature builds and keep them looking good?
Yes—place compressed structures in Brass Display Cases, Andesite Display Cases, or Display Bottles to showcase your miniature contraptions as decorative blocks.
What do the Switch Bearing and Switch Piston do?
These are mechanical components designed specifically for miniature contraptions, allowing you to build moving parts and automation at the compressed scale.
Does compression work with regular Create bearings and contraption systems?
Yes, the mod works directly alongside standard Create contraption bearings, swivel bearings, and all existing Create systems without breaking their functionality.
