How do I pack my first block?
Sneak (hold Shift) and right-click on any block you want to pack, like a chest or furnace. The block and everything inside it will be stored in a cardboard box in your inventory.
Do I lose my items when I pack a block?
No, all items and settings inside the block are preserved in the cardboard box. When you place it again, everything will be exactly as it was.
Can I pack machines with custom settings?
Yes, machine configurations and NBT data are saved when you pack a block, so redstone settings, filters, and other customizations stay intact.
What happens if I accidentally place a box in the wrong spot?
Left-click the cardboard box to remove it without unpacking the block inside. You can then place it again wherever you need it.
Can I move blocks between different dimensions?
Yes, you can carry packed blocks in your inventory between dimensions, making it easy to transport machines or storage to the Nether, End, or custom dimensions.
Does this mod work with modded blocks and machines?
Most modded blocks work fine, but some machines with complex data may not pack correctly depending on how they store information. Test with your specific mods if unsure.
Is the cardboard box itself a placeable block I can keep?
No, the cardboard box is only a transport tool. It exists in your inventory to carry the packed block, and disappears when you place the block down.
Can I pack blocks that are connected to other blocks?
You can only pack individual blocks. Connected structures like multi-block machines need each block packed separately.
Does this mod cause lag or performance issues?
Cardboard Boxes Mod is lightweight and designed to replace heavier mods, so it should have minimal performance impact on your game.
What blocks can't be packed?
Bedrock and other unbreakable blocks can't be packed. Most other blocks including chests, furnaces, and machines work fine.
