Portal Components (Blocks)
Building a portal requires a frame and at least one functional block to manage the connection.

| Portal Frame | The basic building block of a portal. Can be disguised using the Nanobrush. |
| Portal Controller | The primary interface for a portal. One is required per portal structure. |
| Dialing Device | Allows players to manually enter a Unique Identifier (UID) to connect to any other portal on the network. |
| Network Identifier | Used to create simple point-to-point networks without manual dialing. |
| Redstone Interface | Allows the portal to be activated or deactivated via Redstone signals. Can also output signals when a portal is active. |
| Module Manipulator | A specialized frame block that holds Portal Modules to add unique effects or upgrades. |
| Biometric Identifier | Filters which entities (players, mobs, animals) are allowed to pass through the portal. |
| Portal Interface | Available in Item, Fluid, and Energy variants to transport resources through the portal. |
Essential Items
EP3 provides several tools for configuring and maintaining your dimensional bridges.
- Wrench: Used to initialize the DBS and configure various portal blocks. Right-clicking a Portal Controller with a wrench opens the configuration menu.
- Nanobrush: The primary tool for aesthetics. Right-clicking an active portal or frame with a Nanobrush allows you to change its texture, color, and particle effects. It can even apply 'Facades' to make frames look like any other block.
- Location Card: Used to link Portal Controllers to a Dimensional Bridge Stabilizer.
- Glasses: When worn in the helmet slot, these allow the player to see hidden portal components and the boundaries of invisible portals.
- Handheld Scanner: Used to scan entities and save their data onto Identification Cards for use in the Biometric Identifier.

Most EP3 recipes require materials found in the Nether, specifically Quartz.
