Locating the Ores

Ametrine and Aquamarine both generate as gemstone ores underground, and the fastest way to spot them is to look for their crystal clusters growing out of stone. Ametrine tends toward warmer purple-yellow tones, while Aquamarine reads as a cool blue. Bring an iron pickaxe or better — a wooden or stone pickaxe will not drop the ore. If you have Fortune enchanted on your pickaxe, use it here, because the ore drops crystal shards and you want as many as possible.

Getting the Drops

Mine the ore block itself, not just the cluster, so you collect the shard drops. Clusters can be harvested with a pickaxe too and are useful as decorative light sources or for crafting crystal blocks. Once you have a stack of shards, smelt or craft them into ingots following the mod's processing chain — check the Processes section of the wiki for the exact conversion, since shards are the raw input and ingots are what tools and armor need.

Practical Tips

Branch mine at the depths where you see schist variants of the stone, since Ametrine Schist and Aquamarine Schist often appear near their parent ore. Carry a water bucket for lava pockets and a stack of torches. If you find a large cluster, mark the coordinates — you will want to return with a Fortune pickaxe if you did not bring one.
