What Schist Is

Ametrine Schist and Aquamarine Schist are stone variants that generate alongside the gemstone ores. They come in slab, stair, and wall forms, making them a full building material rather than just an ore byproduct. Visually they read as tinted stone — Ametrine Schist leans warm, Aquamarine Schist leans cool — so they blend well with vanilla stone, deepslate, and andesite.

Where to Find It

Schist appears in the same cave systems and mining layers as the parent ore. If you are already branch mining for shards, you will run into it constantly. Mine it with any pickaxe; it drops itself and does not require Silk Touch. Because it generates in large patches, you can usually collect several stacks in a single mining trip.

Building with Schist

  • Use Schist as a foundation or retaining wall under a Crystal Bricks build so the bright gemstone blocks pop against a neutral base.
  • Combine Ametrine Schist and Aquamarine Schist in a checkerboard floor for a subtle two-tone pattern.
  • Schist Stairs and Slabs make excellent roofing for gemstone-themed structures.
  • Schist Walls work as railings, fences, and decorative dividers around a crystal garden.

Because Schist is cheap and abundant, treat it as your default structural stone for any gemstone-themed base and save the Crystal Blocks for accents.
