Press F3 to open the debug screen and check your FPS counter at the top left—you should see a noticeable improvement compared to vanilla. You can also compare your average FPS before and after enabling the modpack to confirm it's active and functioning.
Will Hydrogen change how the game plays or add new content?
No, Hydrogen is purely an optimization mod that keeps the vanilla experience completely intact—no new blocks, items, or mechanics are added, only performance improvements.
What video settings should I change to get the best performance with Hydrogen?
Lower render distance, disable fancy graphics, turn off smooth lighting, and reduce particle effects—these changes work together with Hydrogen's optimizations to maximize FPS gains on low-end PCs.
Can I use Hydrogen on a multiplayer server?
Yes, Hydrogen works in multiplayer and is safe to use on servers since it only optimizes your client-side performance without modifying gameplay or giving unfair advantages.
