Frequently asked questions
How do I craft copper rails?
See the Crafting Recipes section on the main mod page for the exact recipe. You'll need copper ingots and sticks arranged in a specific pattern on the crafting table.
Which direction will a copper rail push my minecart?
The pushing direction is determined by where you were standing when you placed the rail—the rail will point in the direction you were facing. Check the rail pattern on top of the block to visually confirm which way it's oriented.
Do copper rails need redstone power to work?
Yes, copper rails must be powered by redstone to push minecarts. Without power, they behave like unpowered golden rails and won't move minecarts.
Can I power copper rails with the same redstone as my golden rails?
No, copper rails don't share redstone power with other rail types. You'll need to run separate redstone lines to power your copper rails.
Why isn't my copper rail pushing minecarts?
Check that the rail is powered by redstone and that it's oriented in the direction you want the minecart to go. If the rail is unpowered or facing the wrong way, minecarts won't be pushed.
Do copper rails need a powered block next to them to work?
No, unlike vanilla powered rails, copper rails can push minecarts without requiring an adjacent powered block—just make sure the rail itself is powered.
Can I find copper rails in the world naturally?
Yes, copper rails generate in mineshaft loot chests just like vanilla rails, so you can find them while exploring without crafting.
Will activator rails power my copper rails?
No, activator rails don't power copper rails. You need to use standard redstone power sources like redstone wire, redstone blocks, or lever-activated power.
Can I use copper rails to redirect minecarts without redstone repeaters?
Yes, by placing copper rails in different orientations and powering only the ones you want active, you can create one-way paths and redirects without needing repeaters.
What happens if I place a copper rail facing the wrong direction?
The minecart will be pushed in the direction the rail is facing, so if you need it to go a different way, you'll need to break and replace the rail while standing in the correct position.
