The mod includes a few options that change how the compass behaves, and knowing them saves frustration.
In-Game Options
When you open the compass interface, look for a settings or options button. Depending on your version you may be able to toggle whether the compass shows coordinates, whether it displays the biome name on screen, and whether it samples biomes only at the surface or also underground. These toggles are useful if you're hunting for cave biomes like lush caves or dripstone caves, which won't appear if the compass only checks the surface.
Config File Options
Outside the game, the mod generates a config file where you can adjust defaults such as search radius, whether the compass consumes durability, and how often it refreshes its target. If you're playing on a server, the server's config takes precedence, so ask your admin if something behaves unexpectedly. Changes to the config usually require a game restart to take effect.
Resetting a Search
If the compass seems stuck pointing at a biome you no longer want, reopen the interface and either clear the selection or pick a new biome. There's typically a way to deselect the current target. If the needle still won't move, try dropping and picking the compass back up, or restarting the client — this clears most stuck-state issues.
