Why Multi-Step Crafts Are Tricky

Many items need intermediate components that each require their own ingredients. Counting by hand is error-prone. The Item Calculator Craft handles this by chaining recipes together.

Building the Chain

Open the calculator and import the final item's recipe from your recipe viewer. Then, for each ingredient that is itself craftable, import that ingredient's recipe into the corresponding slot. The calculator nests these recipes so the whole tree is represented.

Expanding to Raw Materials

Use the calculator's expand or resolve function to collapse intermediate items into their base ingredients. The result is a single list showing only materials you gather directly, with quantities already multiplied through every step of the chain.

Adjusting Quantities

If you only want a few of the final item, lower the target count and the base material totals update automatically. If you want a full stack, raise it. This lets you quickly answer questions like how much ore or how many logs a project needs.

Practical Tip

Build the chain once, then save or note the recipe if the calculator supports it, so you can reuse the same plan later without re-importing every sub-recipe.
