Open the Horse's Inventory
Ride the horse, then open your inventory (default E). Because you are mounted, the horse's own inventory screen appears alongside yours. If you are not riding, you can still view a tamed horse's stats by interacting with it while holding the item that opens its inventory (a saddle-equipped horse responds to right-click). The mod overlays the three vanilla-buried values directly onto this screen.
What the Three Numbers Mean
You will see three readouts added to the horse GUI:
- Health — the horse's maximum health in hearts. This is the same value shown when you hover the horse, but here it is always visible.
- Speed — the horse's movement speed attribute. Higher is faster; a plain wild horse sits near the middle of the possible range.
- Jump Height — how high the horse can clear when you hold the jump key. This is the stat that decides whether it can hop fences and blocks.
Why This Matters
Vanilla hides these values, so two horses that look identical can differ wildly. Reading them lets you compare a captured horse against your current mount before deciding which to keep. Note the numbers, then release or stable the loser. Because the stats are shown in the inventory, you can check a horse without a lead, carrot on a stick, or any extra tool.
