Check Before You Invest

You do not need to fully commit to a wild horse to judge it. Tame it first (repeatedly mount and feed until it stops throwing you), then open its inventory while mounted to read its health, speed, and jump height. If the numbers are poor, you have lost only the taming effort, not saddles or gear.

What Counts as Good

There is no single "best" number, but use these guidelines:

  • A horse that is above average in all three stats is worth keeping.
  • A horse that is exceptional in one stat (very fast, or very high jump) is worth keeping as a specialist even if the others are mediocre.
  • A horse that is below average across the board is not worth a saddle — release it and look for another.

Where to Look

Horses spawn in plains, savanna, and similar open biomes. Rather than taming every horse you see, tame candidates, read their stats, and move on quickly from weak ones. Because the mod shows the values in the inventory, scouting a herd becomes fast: tame, check, keep or release. Bring a few apples or hay bales to speed taming, and a lead to bring your chosen horse home.
