Frequently asked questions

How do I start cooking with Farmer's Larder if I'm new?
Begin by foraging wild plants like wild greens and bamboo shoots from the world, or harvest vanilla crops like pumpkins and carrots. Use a Cutting Board or Cooking Pot from Farmer's Delight to prepare simple foraged meals, which require no oil and teach you the mod's recipe system.
What's the difference between travel snacks and regular food?
Travel snacks like jerky, granola bars, and trail mix don't leave behind empty bowls when eaten, making them ideal for exploration. Regular meals from bowls do leave empties, so travel snacks are better for inventory management during long journeys.
How do I make cooking oil and what can I use it for?
Press pumpkin seeds or sunflower seeds using the appropriate cooking equipment to create cooking oil. Use this oil to deep-fry chicken, fish, tomatoes, and other ingredients for crispy fried dishes.
Can I grow Mammoth Sunflowers year-round?
If you have Serene Seasons or Ecliptic Seasons installed, Mammoth Sunflowers are restricted to summer crops. Without these mods, they grow normally; check your mod list to see if seasonal restrictions apply to your world.
Do the desserts and sweets actually do anything besides fill hunger?
Yes—certain sweets grant status effects like Sugar Rush (temporary speed or strength boost) and Ice Resistance after eating them. Check the tooltip of cakes, ice cream bowls, and other sweets to see what effects they provide.
Will Farmer's Larder recipes work with crops from other mods?
Yes, the mod integrates with Pam's HarvestCraft 2 fruits and berries, My Nether's Delight ingredients like bullet peppers, and Cobblemon berries in select dishes. Check individual recipes to see which mod ingredients are accepted.
What's the best way to get a lot of foraged meals quickly?
Foraged meals spawn naturally in the world as loot or can be crafted from foraged plants; explore forests, jungles, and swamps to find wild greens, bamboo shoots, and other ingredients. Once you've gathered enough, craft them in bulk using a Cooking Pot.
Do I need Farmer's Delight installed to use this mod?
Yes, Farmer's Larder is an extension of Farmer's Delight and requires it as a dependency to function.
Are there any recipes that need rare ingredients I should farm?
Glowberries are used in several desserts like glowberry cheesecake and glowberry juice, so farming a glowberry patch is worthwhile if you want to make these sweets regularly. Sunflower seeds and pumpkin seeds are also valuable for making cooking oil.
Can I make the fruit juices without a specific mod?
Basic fruit juices like sweet berry juice and cactus juice use vanilla ingredients and work in any world. Juices requiring berries from other mods (like Cobblemon) only work if those mods are installed.
