Start From a Clean Slate
A
cluttered debug screen defeats the purpose of BetterF3. Begin by disabling every module, then re-enable only the ones you check regularly. Most players settle on a small set: FPS, coordinates, biome, and light level. This keeps the overlay compact and easy to scan mid-game.
Tune Readability
In the config, adjust text color and background so the overlay stays legible over snow, water, and the Nether. A subtle background panel or a contrasting text color solves most visibility problems. Increase line spacing slightly if modules run together. If you play on a large monitor, you can also scale or reposition the overlay so it does not cover the crosshair area.
Match the Overlay to Your Playstyle
Survival players benefit from coordinates, biome, and light level for mob-proofing. Technical players want block position and facing. Performance-focused players want FPS and memory. Set up two mental presets — a minimal one for normal play and a fuller one for debugging — and switch modules on and off as needed. Because changes apply live, you can fine-tune without restarting.
