Opening the Overlay
BetterF3 replaces the vanilla debug screen, so you open it the same way you always have: press the debug key (F3 by default). The difference is what you see. Instead of the dense wall of left-aligned text, BetterF3 groups information into labeled, color-coded modules —
things like FPS, coordinates, biome, light level, and the current dimension each get their own block. Press the key again to close it.
Reading the Modules
Each module has a title and a set of lines beneath it. Colors are meaningful: values that are healthy or normal render in one color, while warnings (low light, high memory use, poor connection) shift to a different color so you can spot problems at a glance. If a module you expect is missing, it has simply been toggled off in the config — nothing is broken.
Quick Toggles
You do not need to open a config file to change what shows. BetterF3 exposes in-game keybinds and a config screen you can reach from the mod list or a hotkey, letting you switch individual modules on and off while you play. This is the fastest way to declutter the overlay when you only care about coordinates or FPS.
