Reaching the Config

Open the mod list from the main menu or pause screen, find BetterF3, and click its config button. Alternatively, use the in-game config hotkey if you bound one. You will land on a screen listing every available module — FPS, coordinates, biome, dimension, light level, memory, and more — each with a toggle.

Choosing Your Modules

Decide what you actually use. Builders usually want coordinates and facing direction. Redstone engineers want light level and block position. Performance watchers want FPS and memory. Turn off everything else so the overlay stays readable. There is no penalty for disabling modules; you can re-enable them any time.

Layout and Appearance

Beyond toggles, the config lets you adjust how modules are arranged and styled — text alignment, spacing between modules, background transparency, and color options. If the overlay feels cramped, increase spacing or reduce the number of modules. If it is hard to read against bright terrain, add a background or change text color. Apply your changes and return to the game; the overlay updates immediately, so you can iterate until it looks right.
