How to Get Started with Iron's Spells 'n Spellbooks

Finding Your First Spellbook

Your first goal is to obtain a spellbook and a way to cast spells. Explore the world and look for structures such as wizard towers, catacombs, and other dungeons where hostile spellcasters spawn. These mobs — Apothecarists, Archevokers, Cryomancers, and Cultists — drop spellbooks, scrolls, and arcane materials when defeated. You can also find loot in chests inside these structures. Once you have a spellbook, open it to see its spell slots. Early spellbooks like the Apprentice's Spell Book have limited slots, but you can upgrade later.

Learning and Casting Spells

Spells are learned from scrolls. Hold a scroll and use it to inscribe the spell into your spellbook if you have an open slot and meet the level requirement. To cast, select a spell from your spellbook and right-click while holding the book (or use your wand/staff if you have one). Casting consumes mana, shown as a blue bar above your hotbar. Mana regenerates over time. Practice with low-cost spells like Firebolt or Ice Spike before moving to expensive ones.

Basic Progression Tips

Collect Arcane Essence from disenchanting or salvaging magical items at an Arcane Anvil. Use Arcane Ingots and Arcane Cloth to craft wizard armor, which boosts your spell power and mana. Build an Inscription Table to upgrade your spellbook and unlock more slots. Always carry a melee weapon as a backup for when mana runs dry.
