Enhanced Portals Mod — Guide

Mechanics

Portal Construction

To build an Enhanced Portal, players construct a frame using Portal Frames. This frame can be any closed, flat shape, offering significant design flexibility. Essential components like the Portal Controller and Dialing Device must be integrated into the frame.

Dimensional Bridge Stabilizer

Activating and maintaining portals, especially for interdimensional travel, requires a Dimensional Bridge Stabilizer. This is a multi-block structure that needs to be powered. A minimum size for the stabilizer consists of two levels, each made of six blocks. Once built, it must be initialized by right-clicking it with a wrench.

Portal Activation and Configuration

After constructing the portal frame and the Dimensional Bridge Stabilizer, a Location Card from the Stabilizer is used to right-click the Portal Controller, which activates the portal.

Each portal can be assigned a unique identifier or address using a wrench on the Portal Controller. There are nine choices for these identifiers, and they can be set as either public or private. Dialing Devices are used to connect to public networks, allowing players to specify a target portal.

Power Requirements

Enhanced Portals require energy to function. By default, the mod integrates with other mods that output Redstone Flux (RF). However, energy requirements can be disabled entirely through the mod's configuration file (EnhancedPortals3.cfg) by setting the I:PowerMultiplier value to 0.

Customization

Enhanced Portals offers extensive visual customization options for portals and their frames:

Facades

Players can change the texture of a portal or portal frame to mimic any block or fluid in the game. This is achieved by placing the desired block or a fluid container into a dedicated Facade slot.

Custom Icons

Beyond facades, players can apply custom textures to their portals and portal frames using Custom Icons. If both a Facade and a Custom Icon are set, the Custom Icon will take precedence. Icons can be selected by double-clicking and deselected by double-clicking again or right-clicking anywhere in the icon selection area.

Upgrades

Special frame blocks can be added to a portal without the need to break and replace existing frame blocks. There is a specific upgrade available for each special frame block, excluding the Portal Controller, simplifying the modification process.
