Accumulator: Your Battery
The Accumulator stores electrical charge from your Alternators and releases it to machines on demand. Wire an
Alternator's output into the Accumulator, then wire the Accumulator out to your machines. This decouples generation from consumption — your windmill can charge all day while machines draw power as needed.
Modular and
Capacitor Support
There is an Accumulator (Modular) variant that lets you expand storage capacity by adding modules rather than building separate batteries. The Capacitor is a smaller buffer that handles short, sharp demand spikes — place one near machines that surge on startup (like the
Electric Motor) so they don't momentarily starve the rest of the network.
Best Practices
- Put a Capacitor between the Accumulator and any motor-heavy machine cluster.
- Use the
Portable Energy Interface to move charge between distant networks by hand. - Monitor with the
Digital Adapter if you want readouts of stored charge. - Don't oversize storage before you have generation to fill it — an empty Accumulator does nothing.
Scaling Up
As your factory grows, add more Alternators to charge faster, and more Accumulator capacity to ride out demand peaks. Balance generation and storage so machines never stall mid-craft.
