Getting a Poké Ball
Cobblemon does not hand you a starter. You have to craft your first
Poké Ball before you can catch anything. Harvest Apricorns from Apricorn trees (they grow in several overworld biomes), then combine them with a base material to produce
Poké Balls. The color of the Apricorn determines the type of ball you get, so a
Red Apricorn yields a standard
Poké Ball while other colors produce variants. Once you have at least one ball in your inventory, you are ready to catch.
Throwing and Catching
Find a wild Pokémon roaming the world. Equip your
Poké Ball and throw it at the creature — a direct hit starts the capture attempt. Weaken the Pokémon first by battling it with your own party members; lower HP and status conditions like sleep or paralysis dramatically improve your odds. If the ball shakes and clicks, the Pokémon is yours and joins your party. If it breaks free, the Pokémon may flee or attack, so bring several balls. Empty
Poké Balls also exist as mobs in the world, so scoop those up when you spot them. Practice on common, low-level Pokémon before chasing rare spawns.
