Tumbleweed 9minecraft Mod — Guide
Where Tumbleweeds Spawn
Tumbleweeds spawn naturally in dry, arid biomes such as deserts, badlands and savannas. They prefer open spots near dead bushes and on sand with clear sky above. The set of biomes they may spawn in, and the blocks they spawn near, are both controlled by data-pack tags, so a pack can add or remove spawn biomes and spawner blocks without touching code.
Rolling & Physics
Once spawned, a tumbleweed is pushed by the wind and rolls across the terrain. It bounces and tumbles realistically, climbs over fences, slabs and small blocks, and drifts until it lodges against a wall or eventually fades away. Tumbleweeds come in different sizes and will bump and jostle against one another when their paths cross. If a tumbleweed rolls into fire, lava or a cactus it catches alight and is destroyed.
Loot & Drops
When a tumbleweed is destroyed it drops random items. What it can drop is defined entirely by loot tables and item tags, split into four rarity tiers - common, uncommon, rare and epic. Because the drops are data-driven, server owners and map makers can decide exactly what rolls across their world, from sticks, seeds, string and bones to rare surprises. Edit the tag files (for example the common/uncommon/rare/epic drop tags) in a data pack to fully customise the reward table.
Usage & Tips
- Explore deserts, badlands and savannas to find tumbleweeds rolling on their own; chase and break them for loot.
- Building an adventure map or server event? Put custom rewards in the drop tags and let players hunt tumbleweeds.
- If tumbleweeds are damaging your desert farm, turn off
damageCrops. - Too many (or too few) tumbleweeds? Tune
