Mine & Blade: Battlegear 2 Mod — Guide
Shields
Shields are the primary defensive tool in the mod. They can be customized with patterns using the Heraldry system.
- Wood Shield: Low durability, easily crafted. Can be burnt by fire arrows.
- Iron Shield: Medium durability, reliable for standard combat.
- Diamond Shield: Extremely high durability.
- Gold Shield: Low durability but high 'enchantability' and lower stamina cost for bashing.
- Emerald Shield: High durability with a unique aesthetic.
Shield Mechanics
Shields have a 'Block Angle' (usually 120-180 degrees). Attacks coming from outside this angle will still deal damage. Shields can also be enchanted with 'Unbreaking' and 'Protection' to improve their performance.
Archery and Quivers
The mod introduces a sophisticated archery system centered around the Quiver.
The Quiver
The Quiver is a wearable item that occupies a special slot in the Battlegear inventory. It can hold up to four stacks of arrows. When a bow is drawn, the player can cycle through the different arrow types stored in the quiver using a hotkey (default 'Z').
Specialized Arrows
| Arrow Type | Effect |
|---|---|
| Fire Arrow | Sets the target and the impact block on fire. |
| Explosive Arrow | Creates a small explosion on impact. |
| Poison Arrow | Inflicts the Poison status effect on the target. |
| Piercing Arrow | Travels through multiple enemies, hitting everyone in a line. |
| Leech Arrow | Heals the shooter for a portion of the damage dealt. |
| Mystery Arrow | Applies a random potion effect (positive or negative). |
| Grass Arrow | Spawns tall grass or flowers on dirt/grass blocks. |
| Ender Arrow | Teleports the player to the impact location (similar to an Ender Pearl). |
Heraldry System
The Heraldry system allows players to customize their shields and banners with unique designs.
- Heraldry Icon: An item used to store a design.
- Crest Tool: Used to apply the design from a Heraldry Icon onto a shield or a piece of Knight Armor.
- Customization: Players can choose background patterns, foreground symbols (sigils), and colors. This system uses a dedicated GUI accessed via the Heraldry Icon.
