Think in Layers

Conquest Reforged is built for detailed architecture. The biggest mistake new builders make is using one block per surface. Instead, treat every wall as at least two layers: a base material and a trim or accent material.

Techniques That Work

1. Timber framing — combine dark wood beams with light plaster or stone infill. Run vertical and diagonal beams across walls to break up flat surfaces.

2. Depth — push windows and doors inward by one block so they sit recessed. Add a lintel or sill block above and below openings.

3. Roofs — use stair and slab variants in a darker material than the walls. Overhang the roof by one block past the wall line.

4. Base courses — place a row of larger, rougher stone at the bottom of walls to ground the building visually.

5. Chimneys and gables — add these as separate volumes rather than flat decorations; they read better from a distance.

Scale and Proportion

Medieval builds look best when they are slightly taller than you first expect. A two-block-high wall feels cramped; three or four gives room for trim. Build a single wall section first, judge it, then repeat the pattern around the structure.
