aridBiomeSweatEfficiencyMultiplierArid biome sweating efficiency multiplier | A multiplier for sweating efficiency when the relative humidity is at or below 20%. This applies to arid climates like Deserts, Badlands, and Savannas, as well as The Nether. |
burningTemperatureMultiplierBurning temperature multiplier | Multiplies the temperature point change applied to entities on fire each tick. |
burningTemperatureMultiplierWithFireResistanceBurning temperature multiplier with Fire Resistance | Multiplies the temperature point change applied to entities that are on fire, but also have the Fire Resistance effect, each tick. |
coolingFoodTemperatureMultiplierCooling food temperature multiplier | Multiplies the temperature point change applied to players after eating items with the tag #scorchful:is_cooling_food. |
coolingMultiplierCooling multiplier | Multiplies the final temperature point change of all non-environment cooling sources like sweating and powder snow. |
degreesCPerTemperatureIncreaseDegrees per temperature level increase (in °C/°K) | Specifies the number of Celsius/Kelvin degrees the temperature must be above the minimum heat threshold for each one-point increase in player temperature per tick. Must be positive and non-zero. |
enableBreezesInSandstormsEnable Breezes in sandstorms and blizzards | When enabled, Breezes will naturally spawn on the surface during sandstorms and blizzards. Note that they will spawn regardless of whether it is day or night. |
enableBurningHeartOverlayEnable burning heart overlay | Toggle the burning heart temperature display on the health bar |
enableDesertVisionsEnable desert visions | Toggles hallucinations when overheating in the desert like boats and flowers. |
enableDrownedArmorSpawningEnable Drowned armor spawning | When enabled, Drowned may randomly spawn with Copper or Turtle armor, similar to Zombies on land. |

enableWetDripParticlesEnable wet drip particles | Toggle the dripping particles when wet. This setting overrides Frostiful if installed. |
environmentHeatingTickIntervalEnvironment heating tick interval | How many ticks should occur between applying heat to a player from the environment. Setting this to large values can be used to slow heat down. This may not be set to a value less than 1. |
environmentTemperatureMultiplierEnvironment temperature multiplier | Multiplies the final temperature point change of an environment temperature change. |
extraHumidBiomeSweatEfficiencyMultiplierExtra Humid biome sweating efficiency multiplier | A multiplier for sweating efficiency when the relative humidity is at or above 80%. This applies to rainy climates like Jungles, Swamps during the Wet Season (if a seasons mod is installed); to cave biomes; and to all non-arid biomes when it rains. |
Frequently asked questions
How do I know if I'm getting too hot?
You'll see heat buildup indicated by visual effects and status messages. When heat reaches dangerous levels, you'll suffer weakness, hunger, and mining fatigue, making it critical to cool down immediately by finding shade, drinking water, or getting wet.
What's the fastest way to cool down in combat?
Use Splash Potions to wet yourself instantly, or drink water-based items like Water Bottles for quick cooling. Both methods work mid-fight and prevent heat from triggering weakness that could cost you the battle.
Can I survive the Nether without bringing water?
It's extremely difficult since water is scarce in the Nether. Bring water buckets or harvest Warped Lillies for portable water, and use Crimson Lillies you find as emergency cooling when you step on them.
Do I need special armor to explore hot biomes?
Special armor isn't required but makes survival much easier by providing heat resistance. Standard cooling methods like staying wet, drinking water, and using shade work fine if you manage them carefully.
What biomes are affected by heat?
Deserts, Jungles, Savannas, and Badlands all expose you to sun heat. The Nether is even hotter and has its own extreme survival challenges.
How do sandstorms help me survive?
Sandstorms reduce visibility but also block direct sun exposure, which slows your heat buildup significantly. They're actually beneficial for cooling despite the reduced visibility.
Does this mod work with other mods I have?
Yes, Scorchful integrates with Frostiful for cold survival balance, Dehydration for thirst mechanics, Farmer's Delight for water-providing foods, and Ad Astra for space suit heat resistance. Check individual mod compatibility if you're using other environmental mods.
What water items actually cool me down?
Can I farm sand using sandstorms?
Yes, sandstorms create Sand Piles and fill Cauldrons with sand, giving you renewable sand sources. This is useful for building or crafting without depleting natural sand deposits.
Does fire make heat worse?
Yes, fire exposure increases heat rapidly for both you and mobs, making it critical to extinguish flames quickly during survival situations. Prioritize putting out fire before it forces you into a dangerous heat state.
