Frequently asked questions

How do I actually use RP Renames to change my item's texture?
Open an anvil and place your item in the first slot, then type or select a rename that matches a Custom Item Texture entry in your resource pack. The anvil menu will show the available renames, so click the one you want and confirm the rename to apply the new look.
Where do the rename options show up in the anvil?
They appear directly in the anvil's rename field as you type, pulled from the CIT and CEM entries in your active resource packs. You don't need to memorize exact names — just browse the list that RP Renames adds to the anvil interface.
Do I need to install anything on the server for this to work?
No, RP Renames works client-side, so you only need it on your own game. The renamed item will still function normally on servers, but other players will only see the custom texture if they also have the same resource pack and mod.
Why aren't my custom textures showing up after I rename?
The most common cause is that the resource pack containing the CIT or CEM entry isn't enabled, or the rename you typed doesn't exactly match the pack's expected name. Double-check that the pack is active and that you selected the rename from the list rather than typing a close approximation.
