Frequently asked questions

How do I get started with Grimoire Of Gaia?
Craft or find spawn eggs for the mod's mobs and place them in your world to start encountering them, or explore at night and in caves where many spawn naturally. Check the Books section of the wiki first, since Books of Combat, Nature, Hunger, Memory, and Withering unlock the mod's core mechanics.
Where do Grimoire Of Gaia mobs spawn?
Most mobs spawn naturally in dark areas, caves, and at night like vanilla hostile mobs, while some like Ant mobs spawn from Ant Hills. If you want a specific mob immediately, use its spawn egg from the creative inventory or the mod's spawn egg items.
What do the Books actually do?
The Books (Combat, Hunger, Nature, Memory, Withering) are the mod's progression items and unlock abilities or knowledge tied to their theme. Carry them in a Book Satchel so you don't lose them and can swap between them easily.
How do I use the Book Satchel?
Craft a Book Satchel and place your Books inside it to keep them organized and accessible. Open the satchel to switch which Book is active without carrying each one in your hotbar.
How do I tame the Broom?
The Broom is a rideable mount — right-click it to mount and use standard movement controls to fly or glide. Dismount with the sneak key and be careful of fall damage when landing.
How do I get Crystallized Experience?
Crystallized Experience comes in Small, Medium, and Large sizes and is obtained by defeating Grimoire of Gaia mobs or processing experience through the mod's systems. Use it to store XP safely instead of risking it on death.
How do I beat Anubis?
Anubis is a tough boss-like mob, so bring strong armor, a good sword like the Cursed Metal Sword, and healing items. Fight him in open space so you can dodge, and don't let him corner you.
How do I survive the Arachne fight?
Arachne hits hard and can trap you, so fight her in a cleared area with room to retreat. Bring a Bone Shield for blocking and ranged options to chip her down before closing in.
How do I farm Ant mobs and their drops?
Find an Ant Hill and break it or lure Ant Workers and Ant Salvagers out, then kill them in a contained area to collect their drops. Build a simple farm around the hill so new ants keep spawning for you to harvest.
Will Grimoire Of Gaia hurt my performance or conflict with other mods?
The mod adds many mobs, so expect some extra entity load in crowded areas — lower your mob spawn caps in the config if you notice lag. It generally plays well with other mob and combat mods, but check the configuration section to tune spawn rates if you run a large modpack.
