Why Bother Disenchanting for XP
Enchanted loot from mobs, dungeons, and fishing piles up fast. Instead of tossing it or smelting it down, running it through the
Disenchanter lets you reclaim some of the experience tied up in those enchantments — useful when you're saving toward high-level anvil work or just need a top-up.
The Process
1. Gather enchanted items you don't need — junk swords, spare armor, duplicate tools.
2. Place your
Disenchanter somewhere convenient, ideally near where you store loot.
3. Insert one enchanted item at a time.
4. After processing, collect the experience the block releases. In many versions this appears as orbs you walk into; in others it's credited directly.
5. Repeat for each item.
Practical tips:
- Batch your junk. Keep a chest of unwanted enchanted gear next to the
Disenchanter so you're not running back and forth. - Don't disenchant your good gear by accident. Keep valuable enchanted tools in a separate chest.
- Higher-tier enchantments generally yield more experience than low-tier ones, so prioritize the fancy junk.
- If your version stores enchantments instead of releasing XP, you're building a bank of enchantments to apply later — treat it the same way.
This turns a trash chest into a slow but steady experience source.
