Common Causes
If you've placed a
Disenchanter and nothing happens when you use it, work through these checks before assuming the mod is broken.
Checklist
- Is the item actually enchanted? Plain items produce no output. Check the item's tooltip.
- Are you interacting correctly? Some versions use a GUI (right-click to open), others process on right-click while holding the item. Try both.
- Does it need a redstone signal? A few builds require a pulse or a lever to activate. Try powering it.
- Is the output slot full? If the block has an output and it's occupied, it won't process the next item.
- Enchantment conflicts: transferring onto an item that already has a conflicting enchantment will silently fail in some versions.
- Incompatible target: the target item may not be able to hold that enchantment type at all.
- Config
restrictions: server configs or modpacks sometimes disable specific enchantments or the transfer feature entirely. - Chunk/blockstate glitch: break and replace the block, or reload the chunk.
When It's a Mod Conflict
If the
Disenchanter works in a fresh world but not your modpack, another mod is likely overriding enchantment handling or the interaction. Test in isolation, then check whether an enchantment-related mod is loaded alongside it. If it still fails, the issue is configuration, not the block itself.
