Understanding the Transfer Mechanic
The
Disenchanter's headline feature in most versions is moving an enchantment off one item and onto another, rather than just deleting it. The exact flow depends on whether your build uses a single block with multiple slots or a two-step process.
Step-by-Step Transfer
1. Place the
Disenchanter and open its interface (right-click).
2. Put the source item (the one currently carrying the enchantment) into the input slot.
3. Put the target item (the one you want enchanted) into the second slot, if your version supports direct transfer.
4. Trigger the process — this is usually a button in the GUI or a redstone pulse.
5. Remove the now-enchanted target item and the stripped source item.
Things that commonly trip players up:
- Compatibility: the target item must be able to legally hold that enchantment. You can't put Sharpness on a pickaxe.
- Conflicts: if the target already has a conflicting enchantment, the transfer may fail or overwrite.
- Cost: some versions charge experience levels for the transfer. Watch your XP bar.
- Single-enchantment limits: if the source has multiple enchantments, you may only be able to move one at a time.
If direct transfer isn't available in your build, strip the enchantment first, then apply it to the new item using an anvil or the mod's own application step.
