Hovering Over Food

With AppleSkin installed, hover your cursor over any food item in your inventory, a chest, or a crafting grid. A tooltip appears that shows more than just the item name. It lists the hunger points the food restores and the saturation value it provides, so you can compare two foods side by side before deciding what to eat or carry.

Understanding the Numbers

Hunger points are the drumstick icons on your main bar. Saturation is the hidden reserve that depletes first. A food that restores fewer hunger points but gives high saturation can keep you going longer than a food with more hunger points but low saturation. Use the tooltip to spot which foods are efficient for long trips versus which are better for a quick top-up.

Choosing What to Carry

Before a long expedition, hover over your cooked meats, bread, and golden foods to see which give the best saturation per inventory slot. Stack foods that combine good hunger restoration with solid saturation. This way you can plan your food supply around what actually keeps you fed, rather than guessing based on the item's appearance or vanilla reputation alone.
