Frequently asked questions

Do I need both Advanced Netherite and DragonLoot installed for this to work?
Yes, this is a compatibility data pack that bridges the two mods together. You must have both Advanced Netherite and DragonLoot installed for the upgrade recipes to function.
Can I skip netherite and go straight to dragon gear?
No, the progression lock system prevents this. You must craft or obtain Diamond-tier Advanced Netherite gear first before you can convert it into dragon items at the Smithing Table.
What do I put in the Smithing Table to make dragon gear?
Place your Diamond Advanced Netherite armor or tool in the Smithing Table along with the corresponding dragon item template, and the conversion will create the final DragonLoot gear.
Why won't my Smithing Table recipe work?
Make sure you're using Diamond-tier Advanced Netherite gear (not lower tiers) and that you have the correct dragon item for the slot you're upgrading. Check that both mods are properly installed and the data pack is enabled.
Does this work on Fabric servers?
Yes, this data pack is compatible with both Forge and Fabric versions of Advanced Netherite and DragonLoot.
Can I convert my already-enchanted netherite gear to dragon gear?
Enchantments on your Advanced Netherite gear should transfer to the final dragon item through the Smithing Table, but verify this works in your specific setup before relying on it for important gear.
Do I need to defeat the Ender Dragon to get dragon gear?
You need to obtain dragon items (the templates or materials), which typically come from the Ender Dragon or DragonLoot loot tables, but the actual gear crafting happens at the Smithing Table with your netherite base.
What happens if I try to wear dragon gear without the netherite requirement?
The progression lock system prevents you from equipping dragon gear until you've completed the netherite tier, so the item won't function as armor until you've met the requirement.
Does this data pack add new items or just recipes?
This is a compatibility layer that adds recipes to convert existing Advanced Netherite and DragonLoot items into each other—it doesn't create entirely new items.
Will this mod slow down my game?
As a data pack that only adds recipes, it has minimal performance impact and should not cause lag on most systems.
