Corpse Mod FAQ

Walk up to your corpse entity and interact with it (right-click by default) to open its inventory, then move your items back into your own inventory. The corpse holds everything you were carrying when you died, so you can take it all at once or piece by piece.

Empty the corpse's inventory first, then interact with it again or break it to make it disappear. If it's already empty, a single interaction or hit will usually clear it.

By default corpses are meant to persist so you can recover your items, but depending on your config they can despawn after a set time or when the chunk unloads. If you're worried about losing gear, check the mod's config for the despawn setting and extend or disable it.

This mod is built for Java Edition, so it won't run on Bedrock, PE, or console versions. Bedrock players need a separate addon or behavior pack that offers similar corpse-on-death functionality.

You don't need to craft or place anything to use it; the corpse appears automatically when you die. Just die (or test in a safe spot), then walk back and interact with the body to retrieve your items.

Make sure you're interacting with the right body, since each death creates its own corpse and older ones may still be around. If the corpse is empty or missing, your items may have despawned or the chunk may have unloaded before you returned.

Yes, in multiplayer a corpse is generally accessible to whoever interacts with it, so on a shared server your items aren't automatically protected. Some configs or server plugins can restrict access to the owner, so check your setup if this matters.

A few corpses are negligible, but leaving many loaded corpses around (especially on a busy server) can add up since each one is an entity holding inventory. Clearing old corpses and letting despawn work normally keeps things smooth.

It generally plays fine alongside most mods, but it can conflict with other death/inventory mods (like gravestone or keep-inventory style mods) that also handle items on death. If items go missing or duplicate, disable the overlapping mod or adjust its config so only one handles death drops.
