Subterranean Switcheroo Mod — Guide

Sifting Mechanics

Sifting provides a way to extract valuable materials from common blocks or fusion ores using specialized tools. There are two tiers of sifting tools added by the mod:

  • Wooden Sifter: Low durability, breaks very quickly. Used for early-game resource extraction.
  • Iron Sifter: Infinite durability. A permanent tool for resource processing.

Sifting Recipes

Input Block/Item Output Item Notes
Gravel Flint High success rate
Lapis Lotus (Blue Flower) Lapis Lazuli Slow processing rate
Redgold Ore Redstone Provides extra Redstone
Obsidian Obsidian Chunks Breaks down solid obsidian

Nicer Nether Integration

Subterranean Switcheroo incorporates the "Nicer Nether" mod, which focuses on making the Nether more habitable and useful for building without adding overwhelming "survival" mechanics.

Nether Ores & Tools

  • Nether Gold & Nether Iron: Native ore variants found in the Netherrack.
  • Netherrack Tools: A set of tools made from Netherrack that are equivalent to Stone-tier tools, allowing for basic survival within the dimension.
  • Soul Netherrack: A variant of Netherrack found in soul-rich areas.

Decorative Blocks

The mod adds several decorative Nether Brick variants, each with a unique aesthetic: * Fiery Nether Brick * Icy Nether Brick * Gloomy Nether Brick * Lively Nether Brick

Plants

To assist surface-dwellers who prefer not to mine, the mod introduces the Lapis Lotus (also known as the Blue Flower).

  • Spawn: These flowers spawn naturally across the surface world in various biomes.
  • Usage: When harvested, they can be processed through a sifter to produce Lapis Lazuli. This provides a renewable, surface-based source of Lapis for enchanting and dyeing.

Boss Fight

Subterranean Switcheroo includes a boss encounter designed to reward players with large quantities of vanilla resources.

  • The Boss: Known as the Subterranean Boss or Switcheroo Boss, this entity is a powerful foe that must be summoned or found in specific underground structures.
  • Combat: The boss has high health and utilizes various subterranean-themed attacks.
  • Rewards: Upon defeat, the boss "doles out" resources as rewards. These drops typically include high-tier vanilla materials like Diamonds, Emeralds, and Gold, serving as a high-risk, high-reward alternative to traditional mining.
