Ores, Gems & Polishing

Soul Forest introduces a complex geology system. Ores found in the dimension often drop Uncut Gems, which cannot be used for crafting until they are processed.

The Gemcutter

To polish gems, you must use the Gemcutter block. This requires: 1. Uncut Gem: The raw ore drop. 2. Polishing Towel: A consumable item used in the machine. 3. Polishing Liquid: Required to facilitate the cutting process.

Gem Varieties

The mod includes 17+ gem types, including: Amazonite, Amethyst, Aquamarine, Black Diamond, Citrine, Jade, Jet, Lilo, Olivine, Onyx, Opal, Scarletite, Topaz, Titanium, Turquoise, Violet, and White Opal.

High-Tier Metals

  • Steel, Cobalt, and Mithril: These metals are significantly stronger than Diamond.
  • Fyrised: A late-game tier that replaces Mithril in the latest versions, requiring Uranium to mine.

Tools & Weapons

There are over 12 new tool sets. Each material has unique properties regarding durability, efficiency, and enchantability.

  • Frost Wand: A powerful ranged weapon that shoots Frost Shards. Be careful, as using it can occasionally damage the player.
  • Berry Collector: An essential tool for harvesting berries from vines. Without this tool, punching vines will not yield fruit.
  • Soul Tools: High-tier tools that can be repaired and enchanted using specialized tables.
  • Throwing Knives: Consumable ranged weapons for quick combat.

Tool Tiers

  1. Bronze/Copper/Tin: Early game, comparable to Iron.
  2. Silver/Chromite: Mid-tier, comparable to Diamond.
  3. Steel/Cobalt/Fyrised: End-game, exceeding Diamond stats.

Armor & Set Bonuses

The mod adds 7+ full armor sets. A unique mechanic in Soul Forest is the Set Bonus, which activates when a full suit of the same material is worn. Players can press the 'F' key (default) to view detailed information about their current armor stats.

Armor Set Special Properties / Set Bonus
Silver Armor High enchantability.
Steel Armor High damage reduction.
Cobalt Armor Extreme durability.
Fyrised Armor The highest tier of protection available in the mod.
Amulet Rings Equipped to increase damage dealt or decrease damage taken.

Machinery & Crafting Stations

Standard crafting is often insufficient for Soul Forest items. Several new blocks are required for progression:

  • Ice Workbench: Features a 4x4 crafting grid. Used for crafting Magic Emblems and high-level Enchantment Books.
  • Gemmeration Table: Uses Jet Amulet Stones to repair Soul Tools and Armor without losing enchantments.
  • Gemming Table: Uses Scarletite Amulet Stones to apply powerful enchantments to gear.
  • Gemble Table: Uses Citrine Amulet Stones to transform blocks (e.g., turning an Iron Block into a Gold Block).
  • Gel Extractor: Used to process Blue Gel into Gel Pots. It extracts gel until it reaches 9 units to create a filled pot.

Food & Agriculture

The Soul Forest is a bountiful source of food, primarily through its unique Grape Trees and berry vines.

Berries

Using a Berry Collector, players can harvest: * Baneberry, Blueberry, Blackberry, Cranberry, Razzberry, Raspberry, and Strawberry.

Crafted Foods

Berries can be processed into advanced food items that provide significant hunger restoration and buffs: * Muffins: Blueberry and Cranberry variants. * Pies: Raspberry and Strawberry pies. * Juices & Wine: Liquid refreshments crafted from berry bushels. * Bushels: Created by combining multiple berries with a bucket, used as a bulk storage or crafting ingredient.

Mechanics & Enchantments

Custom Enchantments

The mod introduces two primary custom enchantments, which can be leveled up to IV: 1. Frost: Adds slowing and frost damage to weapons. 2. Enhanced: Increases the base effectiveness of tools and armor.

Amulet Stones

Amulet Stones provide temporary potion buffs (typically 20-40 seconds) upon use. They are also essential fuel for the Gemmeration, Gemming, and Gemble tables.

Rarity Colors

Items in the mod feature color-coded names to indicate their rarity and power level, helping players quickly identify high-value loot in the dimension.
