Weapon Types

Simply Swords expands the arsenal with several brand-new weapon classes, each with its own model, reach, attack speed and damage profile:

  • Longswords - balanced blades, a step up from the vanilla sword.
  • Greatswords / Two-handers - slow but heavy-hitting with wide swings.
  • Spears - extra reach so you can strike from a safer distance.
  • Rapiers - fast, low-damage-per-hit weapons that shine with rapid attacks.
  • Scythes, Katanas, Twinblades, Hammers and Gunblades - each with a distinctive feel.

Different builds and playstyles favour different weapons, so it is worth experimenting to find the blade that fits how you fight.

Unique & Runic Weapons

The highlight of the mod is its Unique and Runic weapons. These are special swords with built-in abilities you trigger by right-clicking. Effects vary widely from weapon to weapon and include things like:

  • Unleashing arcing soul slashes and crescent energy waves that damage everything in their path.
  • Calling down lightning and storms.
  • Bursting into flames (immolation) that burn nearby enemies.
  • Dashing through shadows to reposition instantly.
  • Draining life from foes or healing yourself.

Many of these weapons also apply status effects, mark targets, or grant temporary buffs, giving combat a lot more depth and variety than swinging a plain iron sword.

Obtaining Weapons & the Runic Table

Weapons are found by exploring and looting structures across the world - dungeon and structure chests are the main source of Unique weapons. Runic weapons can be forged and upgraded at a Runic Table using materials you gather on your journey. Building up from basic runic gear to the strongest blades gives the mod a satisfying gear-progression loop, so there is always a next weapon to work toward.

Using Weapon Abilities

Hold a Unique or Runic weapon and right-click to use its ability. Each weapon's tooltip describes what it does. Some abilities are instant, some have a short cooldown, and some are channelled while you hold the weapon. Because each blade has its own attack speed and reach, mixing a weapon's normal attacks with its special ability is key to getting the most out of it in a fight.
