Managing Structure Files

Save Locations

Recurrent complex has two primary save options, "active" and "inactive," which outputs the saved file to the matching folder in the "structures" directory. You can find this folder by navigating to your modpack instance or by using the command /#files.

There are, however, two additional "world" versions of these options. These will save the structure to the current world folder's "structure" folder instead of the primary structure folder in the instance directory. This can be used when doing testing, if you want to experiment with a structure that you don't actually want to save long term. Once you delete the world save, the structure gets deleted with it. World save structures also can't be accessed from other worlds the way ones in the root structure folder can, helping to not clutter the structure list outside of test environments.

Also keep in mind that when editing a structure file in a world folder, the save location will default to the root "active" folder, and will need to be toggled back to the world folder structure you want to keep it saved in.

File Copies

You can have multiple copies of a structure across different folders. Structures in the "inactive" folder will take priority, so even if you have a "castleLarge" structure in "active," if there is a "castleLarge" in the inactive folder it will prevent the structure from spawning. World's structure folders also take priority over the root structure folder.

When you edit a structure file that exists in multiple locations, it will pull from the one with highest priority first. It's best to only keep one copy of a file with the same name in the structure folders at a time and save backups to external locations so you don't lose track.

To save a copy of a file, you can use suffixes like "BKP" or numerics when saving to the inactive folder, which saves it as a separate file even though the rules and structure itself are the same. Note that structure names are case sensitive.

If you'd like to move a structure, you can simply open its edit window and change the save location. You'll get an option to the right which allows you to keep or delete the original after copying the file to the new location, which can be done by saving it.

Schematics

The schematics folder allows importing and exporting structures without registering them in game and cluttering the command list. These can be accessed with the /#schematic command.
