Pop-out Clocks — Guide

What It Changes

Precisely one thing, and only in one place.

Where the clock is What you see
In an item frame The new raised 3D clock
In your hand Vanilla clock, unchanged
In the hotbar or a chest Vanilla clock, unchanged
Dropped on the ground Vanilla clock, unchanged

That split is deliberate. The pack's item model definition selects on the display context and swaps in the 3D model only for the one an item frame uses, falling back to the vanilla model everywhere else. Nothing about the item itself changes: same crafting recipe, same behaviour, same stack.

Where It Works

  • Item frames and glow item frames - both supported.
  • Walls, floors and ceilings - the model orients itself with the frame, so a clock laid flat on the floor or fixed overhead still looks right.
  • The Overworld - clock faces only track real time in the Overworld, which is vanilla behaviour; in the Nether and the End the dial spins randomly there too.

64 separate faces are included, so the hand moves in small steps rather than jumping, and a wall of framed clocks stays in sync with itself.

Installing the Pack

  1. Download the pack .zip file.
  2. Place the .zip into your .minecraft/resourcepacks folder (do not unzip it).
  3. Launch Minecraft and open Options -> Resource Packs.
  4. Move Pop-out Clocks from the left (available) list to the right (selected) list.
  5. Click Done, then put a clock into an item frame.

The pack can be turned on or off at any time from the same screen.
