What does the Persistent Bits Mod do?
It adds a Chunk Loader block that keeps chunks loaded persistently, so machines and farms keep running while you are away. It uses the vanilla /forceload mechanic, so blocks in the loaded chunks do not tick.
What block does Persistent Bits add?
It adds one block: the Chunk Loader. It is craftable.
Which Minecraft versions does Persistent Bits support?
The Modrinth project page lists 1.14.4, 1.15.2, 1.17.1, 1.18, 1.18.2 and 1.19.2. The wiki lists Minecraft 1.18+.
Does Persistent Bits need fuel?
No. It is a no-fuel-required chunk loading mod.
Can I change the chunk loader radius?
Yes. The configuration file lets you change the radius of the Chunk Loader. If you set it too high, you also need to change maximumChunksPerTicket and maximumTicketCount in forgeChunkLoading.cfg.
How do I see which chunks are being loaded?
Right-click the Chunk Loader to display which chunks are actively being loaded. Using F3 + G to show chunk boundaries helps, since the client-side indicators are placed at the center of each loaded chunk.
Do chunk loaders work after a restart?
Yes. Chunk Loaders placed after version 1.0.0 automatically load themselves on world load, so you do not have to visit them.
Can other players break my chunk loader?
Chunk Loader security can be enabled or disabled in the config. When enabled, the placer is the owner and is the only person who can break it.
What is PersistentBits.dat?
It stores important information about Chunk Loaders and sits inside each world folder. Do not delete it, or you will have to re-place your Chunk Loaders.
