Mine and Slash Mod — Guide

Character Mechanics

Characters in Mine and Slash are defined by their level and five primary attributes. Each level gained provides Attribute Points and Talent Points.

Primary Attributes

Attribute Description Bonuses per Point
Strength (STR) Focuses on physical power and durability. +5 Health, +0.2 Health Regen, +1% Armor
Intelligence (INT) Focuses on spell power and mana. +10 Mana, +0.5 Mana Regen, +0.5 Magic Shield
Dexterity (DEX) Focuses on speed and agility. +10 Energy, +1% Dodge Chance, +0.5 Energy Regen
Vitality (VIT) Pure survivability. Increases base Health and Health scaling.
Luck (LUK) Loot quality. Increases Magic Find and the chance for higher rarity drops.

Resources

  • Health (Red): Your life pool. If it hits zero, you die and lose experience (based on world settings).
  • Mana (Blue): Used to cast Spells. Regenerates over time or through Intelligence.
  • Energy (Yellow): Used for Basic Attacks and certain physical abilities. Regenerates quickly.
  • Magic Shield (Purple): An extra layer of protection that absorbs damage before Health. Requires specific gear to activate.

The Talent System

The Talent Tree is the heart of character customization. Accessible via the default keybind H, it allows players to path through various nodes to specialize their combat style.

Talent Categories

  1. Warrior: Focuses on melee damage, physical resistance, and health regeneration.
  2. Mage: Enhances mana capacity, spell damage, and elemental (Fire, Cold, Lightning) power.
  3. Ranger: Specializes in projectile damage, critical hit chance, and movement speed.
  4. Guardian: A defensive path focusing on Magic Shield, Armor, and damage mitigation.

Skills and Spells

Players can equip active spells in their hotbar. Spells are unlocked at specific level milestones (1, 5, 10, 15, 20, 25, 30). * Active Skills: Direct attacks, buffs, or utility spells (e.g., Fireball, Whirlwind, Summon Skeleton). * Support Gems: These can be linked to active spells to modify their behavior, such as adding 'Multiple Projectiles' or 'Lifesteal'.

Equipment & Loot

Loot is randomized and drops from mobs or chests. Items have a Level Requirement and often require specific Attribute Thresholds to be wielded.

Rarity Tiers

Rarity Color Description
Common White Basic items with no extra modifiers.
Uncommon Green 1-2 random affixes.
Rare Blue 3-4 random affixes.
Epic Purple 5-6 random affixes.
Legendary Orange High-tier stats and unique properties.
Mythic Red The most powerful randomized gear.
Unique Gold Fixed, build-defining stats that cannot be found elsewhere.
Runed Teal Items specifically designed for Runewords.

The Soul System

In newer versions, gear items contain a Soul. The Soul holds all the RPG stats (damage, health, etc.). Players can use a Salvaging Station to extract souls or resources from unwanted gear. This allows you to transfer a powerful 'Soul' from a broken or low-durability item onto a fresh piece of equipment.

Gems, Runes, and Runewords

Gear can drop with Sockets, which are used to further enhance items.

Gems

Gems provide flat or percentage-based stat boosts. They are typically obtained by breaking down equipment or as rare drops. * Fire/Cold/Lightning Gems: Add elemental damage or resistance. * Vampiric Gems: Grant Life on Hit or Lifesteal.

Runes and Runewords

Runes are rare items that can be socketed into 'Runed' rarity gear. When specific combinations of runes are placed in the correct order, they form a Runeword, granting massive hidden bonuses. * Example: A 'Wealth' Runeword might significantly boost Magic Find and Gold drops. * Extraction: Use a Gem/Rune Extractor to safely remove socketed items without destroying the gear.

Endgame: The Atlas

Once a player reaches high levels, the primary progression shifts to Adventure Maps.

Map Mechanics

  • Map Creator: Used to generate your first common maps.
  • Map Device: A block where you insert an Adventure Map to open a portal to a dungeon dimension.
  • Map Tiers: Maps range from Tier 1 to Tier 16. Higher tiers have more dangerous affixes (e.g., 'Monsters deal 50% extra Fire damage') but offer better rewards.
  • Uber Bosses: By collecting Uber Fragments from high-tier maps, players can craft an Uber Boss Map to face the mod's ultimate challenges for exclusive Mythic loot.

Mobs & Combat

Mobs in the world scale based on their distance from the world spawn point. As you travel further, mob levels increase, making them harder to kill but providing better loot.

Elite Modifiers

Rare and Epic mobs can spawn with special modifiers that change the flow of combat: * Fire/Cold/Lightning Enchanted: Mobs deal elemental damage and have high resistance to that element. * Vampiric: Mobs heal themselves when they damage the player. * Chaos: Mobs deal unpredictable damage that bypasses some resistances. * Bulwark: Mobs have significantly higher Armor and Magic Shield.

Professions & Crafting

Mine and Slash includes several RPG professions that level up as you perform related tasks:

  • Salvaging: Breaking down gear for stones and essences.
  • Gear Crafting: Creating new equipment using resources gathered from salvaging.
  • Enchanting: Adding specific stats to gear using currency items.
  • Alchemy: Crafting powerful potions and flasks that provide temporary buffs.
  • Mining/Farming/Fishing: These vanilla activities are integrated into the mod, providing materials for high-level crafting recipes.
