Mantle — Guide

Do I Need This?

Yes - if a mod requires it. Mantle is a hard dependency for Tinkers' Construct and other mods that build on it. Those mods will not load without Mantle present.

No - on its own. Mantle by itself adds nothing you can see or use in-game. There are no Mantle items, blocks, or recipes to find.

If your modpack or a mod's requirements list Mantle, you need it. Otherwise you do not.

Getting Started

There is nothing to do in-game with Mantle directly - it runs silently in the background and provides shared code to the mods that depend on it.

  • Nothing to craft or open. Mantle has no items, blocks, recipes, or screens of its own.
  • No configuration to touch. It simply powers the GUIs, recipes, and registration of the mods that require it (such as Tinkers' Construct).
  • What you actually see is the content of those dependent mods working correctly - Mantle is the invisible foundation underneath them.

What It Provides

Mantle bundles reusable systems that the mods depending on it use to deliver their in-game content:

  • GUI framework - shared container and screen helpers behind the menus you open in those mods.
  • Registration helpers - the plumbing that lets dependent mods add their blocks, items, and other objects.
  • Recipe framework - flexible recipe and ingredient utilities (including fluid/component-aware recipes), powering crafting in mods like Tinkers' Construct.
  • Data, loot, and network utilities - support for loot tables and data-driven content used by the mods built on it.

None of this appears as Mantle content directly - it is the shared groundwork that makes the dependent mods' features work.
