Planning Your Farm Layout
Automated ore farms work best when organized by ore type. Dedicate separate rows or sections to each ore to make harvesting and processing easier. Consider the space available and which ores you prioritize.
Creating the Infrastructure
1. Prepare large areas of farmland or dirt blocks
2. Install water channels or hydration systems to keep crops watered
3. Plant ore seeds in rows with consistent spacing
4. Set up collection systems (hoppers, conveyors, or mod-specific transport) beneath or beside growing areas
5. Direct harvested ores to storage or processing stations
Optimization Strategies
If your modpack includes Create or similar mods, use mechanical harvesters or conveyor belts to automate collection. For Applied Energistics integration, connect your farm output directly to your ME system for automatic storage and sorting. Use bone meal dispensers or growth accelerators if available to speed up maturation. Separate slow-growing ores like ancient debris into dedicated sections so you can focus faster crops elsewhere.
