Frequently asked questions

How do I even start with Viescraft? I have all these items and no idea what to do.
Craft a Machine Workbench first, then use it to make a Machine Chassis and Machine Parts from Machine Pellets and the Machine Parts Mold. Place the chassis in the world, apply an Instruction Kit (Ground, Flying, Hauler, or Sea) to set the machine type, then use an Ignition Key to bring it to life.
What's the difference between the Instruction Kits?
Each Instruction Kit determines the movement behavior of the machine you're building: Ground for walking, Flying for airships, Hauler for cargo, and Sea for water travel. The kit you apply to the chassis locks in that machine's role, so pick the one matching how you want to move.
How do I make my airship actually fly?
Once your Flying machine is assembled and ignited, you need to supply it with energy — either through a Machine Battery or by feeding it fuel via the appropriate Service Kit. Then board it and use the controls to lift off; if it won't rise, check that it has power and that the chassis was built with the Flying Instruction Kit.
My machine won't turn on. What am I missing?
The most common causes are an empty battery, no fuel, or an Ignition Key that hasn't been used on the chassis yet. Also confirm the machine was completed properly — a bare chassis without an Instruction Kit applied won't function.
What are Service Kits for and which one do I use?
Service Kits restore your machine's durability or energy, and they come in Small, Large, and Max sizes plus separate Durability and Energy variants. Use the Durability kits when the machine is damaged and the Energy kits when it's out of power — match the size to how much you need to top up.
How do I change how my airship looks?
Use Detailing Kits (Cloth, Frame, Metal, or Panel) on your machine to swap its appearance without affecting function. Construction Kits apply the same material themes during building, so you can mix and match to get the look you want.
What is Xegonite and where do I get it?
Xegonite is the mod's core material, obtained as Xegonite Shards that you refine into Xegonite Blocks. You'll need it for Machine Parts, Chassis, and most advanced components, so stockpile shards early.
Can I take my machine apart and get the materials back?
Yes — use the Dismounter on a placed machine to break it down, and the Dismounter (Player) variant to remove a machine you're currently riding or that's bound to you. This lets you recover components instead of losing them.
What do the Machine Upgrades do?
Lesser Machine Upgrade and similar upgrade items enhance an existing machine's capabilities when applied to it. Check the upgrade's tooltip before applying, since upgrades are typically consumed on use.
Does Viescraft work with other mods, and will it lag my world?
Viescraft is generally self-contained and doesn't require other mods to function, though it plays nicely alongside tech and storage mods. Performance depends on how many machines you have active at once — parked machines that aren't moving cost far less than a fleet of flying airships, so keep only what you're using loaded.
