Saving Photos as PNG Files
While map items are great for in-game display, PNG exports let you save high-resolution images directly to your server's storage for sharing, archiving, or editing outside Minecraft.
Steps to Export a PNG
1. Use the command /camera-obscura save in chat
2. Aim your view at the subject you want to photograph
3. The server renders and saves the image as a PNG file to the server directory
4. PNG files can be scaled up to 1280×1280 pixels for maximum detail
5. Retrieve the PNG from your server files to download or share
Configuration Tips
Before saving, check your camera-obscura.json config file to adjust:
- Resolution scaling: Set how large the PNG output should be
- Render distance: How far the camera sees
- Field of view (FOV): Zoom level of the shot
- Brightness: Lighting adjustments for better visibility
Higher resolutions take longer to render, so be patient on first use.
