Frequently asked questions

How do I get started with Spelunkery?
Just go mining — Spelunkery generates stone-type ore variants like Andesite Coal Ore and Calcite Redstone Ore alongside vanilla ores, so you'll run into them naturally. Pick up pebbles as you explore caves, since they point you toward nearby ore veins.
What are pebbles for and how do they help me find ore?
Pebbles like Basalt Pebble and Blackstone Pebble spawn on cave floors near their corresponding ore veins. Breaking them gives you a hint about what's buried nearby, so follow clusters of the same pebble to zero in on a vein instead of digging blindly.
How do glowsticks work and how do I make them?
Glowsticks come in colors like Black, Blue, and Brown Glowstick, and they're throwable light sources you can stick to cave walls and ceilings. They're great for lighting up large caverns without placing torches block by block.
What do I do with cinnabar?
Cinnabar drops as Cinnabar Shard and can be crafted into Cinnabar or a Block of Cinnabar. Processing it (see the Cinnabar and Magnetite guide) turns it into useful materials, and Rough Cinnabar blocks also exist as a raw form.
How do I process magnetite?
Magnetite drops as Block of Raw Magnetite when mined, which you then process into usable magnetite materials. Check the Processing Cinnabar and Magnetite guide for the exact chain, since the raw block isn't the final product.
What are Dust Bunnies and are they dangerous?
Dust Bunny is a mob that spawns underground and can be a nuisance while mining. They're tied to Tangle Roots (Bramble of Tangle Roots), so clearing those and watching your step in caves keeps them manageable.
What is the Compression Blast Miner and how do I use it?
It's a machine block for automated mining — you set it up and it handles digging for you. See the Compression Blast Miner guide for placement and power/setup details, since it needs proper configuration to run.
What are Rough Diamond, Rough Emerald, and Rough Lazurite blocks?
These are raw, unrefined block forms of gems that Spelunkery adds, similar to how raw ore blocks work for metals. You'll need to process them to get the actual gem items rather than using them directly.
Is Spelunkery compatible with other mods and does it hurt performance?
Spelunkery is designed to slot into vanilla-style worlds by adding ore variants and underground content, so it generally plays well alongside other mining and worldgen mods. Performance impact is modest since it mainly adds blocks and a single mob, but heavy worldgen mods stacked together can still add up.
What's the point of nuggets like Bismuth Nugget and Copper Nugget?
These nuggets are small material drops you collect while mining and can use for crafting or as a sign you're near a relevant ore vein. They're a lighter-weight resource than full ingots, useful for early-game crafting and trading.
