Frequently asked questions
How do I know when the Stalker is about to spawn?
The Stalker spawns every three in-game days automatically—check your survivor diary for the spawn schedule and prepare your gear in advance. You'll notice it watching from behind trees in your vicinity, so stay alert and keep your crosshair ready to lock it in place.
What happens if I look away from the Stalker while it's hiding?
The Stalker will continue observing your movement patterns and learn which directions you look most often. It uses this information to help the Hunter predict your escape routes, so avoiding eye contact makes future encounters more dangerous.
Can I just hide in a dirt shelter to survive the Hunter?
No—the mod prevents you from placing or breaking blocks during an active chase, so traditional dirt shelters won't work. You must either fight the Hunter with melee weapons, use flares and disruptors to create distance, or survive for ten minutes until it leaves.
How do I craft the Hunter's Sword?
Combine a dropped tooth (from defeating the Hunter) with a stick using your crafting table. The Hunter's Sword deals high damage and attacks quickly, making it your best melee option against pursuers.
What's the difference between flares and disruptors?
Flares hold incoming monsters at a safe distance by creating a barrier they won't cross, while disruptors break the monster's tracking ability and force it to move toward your last known position instead. Use flares for sustained defense and disruptors to buy time for escape.
Why is my screen getting darker during the chase?
Your view darkens whenever a pursuer gets within thirty blocks of you—this is intentional and makes it harder to see escape routes. Back away from the creature or use flares to push it back and restore your visibility.
Can the Hunter break through doors and windows?
Yes—the Hunter crawls through doors, squeezes through windows, climbs walls, and swims quickly, so traditional barriers won't stop it. You need to fight, use disruptors, or maintain distance until the ten-minute survival timer expires.
What should I do when the Hunter collapses?
The Hunter collapses for six seconds after taking thirty points of damage to recover before attacking again. Use this window to create distance, heal yourself, or land additional hits before it resumes pursuit.
Do other hostile mobs spawn while I'm being chased?
No—the mod removes all normal hostile monsters within sixty-four blocks during an active chase, so you only need to focus on the Stalker or Hunter. This prevents you from being overwhelmed by multiple threats at once.
How do I turn off the monster chat messages?
Press O to open the optional settings menu and disable enemy chat features if you find them distracting. This won't affect gameplay mechanics, only the messages the creatures send during encounters.
