Frequently asked questions

How do I know Presence Footsteps is actually working?
Walk across a few different surfaces like grass, stone, and sand and listen for the sound changing to match each block. If every block sounds identical or you hear nothing at all, the mod isn't loading or its sounds are being overridden.
Do I need a resource pack for Presence Footsteps to work?
The mod ships with its own default footstep sounds, so it works out of the box. Resource packs are only needed if you want a different sound style, and packs made for the original Presence Footsteps will work here too.
How do I make footsteps quieter or turn them off completely?
Use the mod's own volume slider in its config screen rather than the vanilla music or ambient sliders, since footstep audio is handled separately. Setting that slider to zero effectively mutes footsteps without removing the mod.
Why do my footsteps sound the same on every block?
This usually means the block you're standing on isn't in the mod's sound mapping, so it falls back to a default sound. Blocks added by other mods often need a compatibility entry before they get their own footstep audio.
