Client-Side Means You Control It
Neat is a client-side mod, so its settings live on your machine, not the server. That means you can use it on any server that allows client mods, and your configuration doesn't affect other players. It also means your settings are global by default — the same overlay follows you from world to world.
Managing Different Setups
If you want different looks for different contexts (say, a minimal overlay for PvP servers and a detailed one for singleplayer), check whether your config screen offers profiles or per-world overrides. Many client mods store a single config file you can back up and swap manually: find the config file in your instance's config folder, copy it, and rename copies for each setup. Swap the active file before launching.
If your mod loader provides a config-profile feature, use it to save named presets and switch between them from the mod list without editing files by hand.
Remember that server-side rules still apply — some servers restrict what client mods may display, so keep your overlay within their guidelines. Since nothing about Neat changes gameplay, it's generally safe, but always respect server policy. After editing configs manually, fully restart the game so the new file loads cleanly.
