The three Magnum Torch variants—Amethyst, Diamond, and Emerald—share the same function: preventing hostile mob spawning in a large radius. The choice between them comes down to which material you have available and which look you prefer. There is no functional difference in coverage or effect between the variants.

How to Decide

• Amethyst Magnum Torch — a good pick if amethyst is easy for you to gather.
• Diamond Magnum Torch — choose this if you have spare diamonds and like the look.
• Emerald Magnum Torch — useful if you trade with villagers often and have emeralds on hand.

Practical Advice

Craft whichever variant matches the resources you already have. If you are building several torches to cover a large base, using the cheapest material for you makes the most sense. Since the effect is identical, there is no reason to save a specific variant for a special build unless you care about appearance.

Place them the same way regardless of variant: centrally, elevated, and spaced so their coverage overlaps where needed.
