Frequently asked questions
How do I find homesteaders in my world?
Each homesteader type spawns only in specific biomes: look for Lumberjacks and Trappers in Forests, Swamps, and Taigas; Beekeepers in Forests, Meadows, and Taigas; Prospectors in Badlands and cave systems; and Foragers in Swamps and Meadows. They occupy distinctive structures, so scan the landscape for their themed buildings.
What do I need to do to make a homesteader work?
Each homesteader needs their specific job site block placed nearby to become active and offer trades. You can either craft the job site block yourself or find one already generated inside their structure.
Can I craft the job site blocks or do I have to find them?
All five job site blocks are craftable, so you can make them at your base and transport them to set up homesteaders wherever you want, rather than relying on finding structures.
Which homesteader should I trade with first?
Start with whoever matches your immediate needs: Lumberjacks for wood and saplings, Trappers for leather and meat, Beekeepers for honey products, Prospectors for ores, or Foragers for flowers. There's no required progression order.
Do homesteaders restock their trades?
Yes, homesteaders restock their trades over time, just like vanilla villagers, as long as their job site block remains placed and they can access it.
Can I move a homesteader to a different location?
You can place their job site block in a new location, and they will eventually pathfind to it and settle there, effectively relocating them from their original structure.
What's the difference between homesteaders and regular villagers?
Homesteaders spawn naturally in the overworld with profession-specific trades and structures, whereas regular villagers require you to find a village or use spawn eggs. Homesteaders also use unique job site blocks tied to their profession.
Do homesteader structures have loot inside?
Homesteader structures generate with their job site blocks already placed, and may contain thematic items or supplies, though the primary value is accessing the homesteader's trades.
Can I have multiple homesteaders of the same profession?
Yes, you can set up multiple job site blocks of the same type in different locations to attract and work with multiple homesteaders of the same profession.
Will this mod cause lag or performance issues?
The mod adds structures and entities to the world, so performance depends on your system and how many homesteads you generate or create; consider the number of active homesteaders and structures when planning your world.
