FPS Reducer does nothing visible on its own — it only kicks in when you stop interacting with the game. To get real benefit, you need to tell it *when* to throttle and *how hard*.

Open the config

Open the mod's config screen from the in-game mod list (or edit the config file directly if your loader exposes it). You will typically find separate settings for two triggers: the window losing focus, and the player being idle. Treat them as two independent features and tune each one.

Tune the idle trigger

The idle trigger is the one that saves power while you are still looking at the screen. Set an idle delay that is long enough that normal play — reading a chat message, checking a map, thinking about where to build — does not trip it, but short enough that walking away from the keyboard does. Then set the reduced frame rate to something low but not zero; a very low cap is fine because nothing is moving on screen anyway.

Tune the unfocused trigger

For the unfocused case, the reduced rate can be lower still, since you cannot see the window. If you run the game in a window and alt-tab constantly, keep this aggressive. If you stream or record, raise it, because capture software may read frames from an unfocused window.

Verify it works

Enable any on-screen frame rate display, alt-tab away, and confirm the number drops. If it does not, the mod is not detecting the state change — check that the feature is enabled and that no other performance mod is overriding it.
